Personally, I felt lost in a familiar place after separation. My old friends had new lives. As much as I tried, I couldn't really connect with them. Feeling isolated and ostracized, I just kept my head down and plugged through life. Took years before I considered myself a vet and to seek out other vets. I don't want to see my fellow service members to go through something like that. Same for the families of whose loved one never made it home. Make an effort to show up and show off who you are. Welcome those who are going through tough times. Finding comfort is finding your people.
Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries forward a legacy of courage and heroism. Built upon the mantra, “While we have time, LET US DO GOOD,” the Foundation supports our nation’s fallen and catastrophically injured first responders, military heroes and their families.
